As mentioned earlier, it really doesn't feel like Christmas here. I think the main thing is the food, I haven't got hold of any traditional Norwegian Christmas food - pinnekjøtt in particular. In despair we went to Fifty-Seven in Roppongi which is at least serving turkey. I guess this stunt doesn't make any sense at all since I've never had turkey for Christmas, but it's just that eating something different that usually isn't available make things feel more special.. more Christmas'y. The food was good and the head chef who dropped by for a chat turned out to be a friendly guy. Feeling slightly more holiday spirited we headed to Roppongi Hills to check out James Cameron's latest monstrosity; "Avatar" - in 3D. Wow! The movie looks spectacular. Saying that, I wonder why they couldn't find something more interesting to spend $300 million on than remaking "Pocahontas" in space with a dash of "Last Samurai" and "Terra"… and none of those are particulary original either. Also I'm still not buying the 3D hysteria. Glasses are uncomfortable and the image gets darker so while the objects might pop at you, the colours clearly don't. Anyway, great popcorn fun and well worth checking out.
